Ethical Aspects in Research and Technology for Human (EARTHnet) is a leading network which embraces a core group of people from diverse disciplines and is designed to provide a guide to scientists, technicians, caretakers and workers ensuring that their research practice complies with the highest standards of Research Ethics and Research Integrity (RE&RI).

Main Tasks

EARTHnet is active through the infrastructure of NTUA. EARTHnet’s main tasks are:

  • Raise awareness among the Greek academic community on RE&RI issues
  • Promoting the institutionalization of a national code of conduct for research
  • Promote the establishment of a national RE&RI committee
  • Disseminate the latest developments at the European area and beyond to the Greek stakeholders.

Training

Promoting Research Integrity

EARTHnet will organize a meeting of its members in 2017, where a roadmap will be decided so as to promote:

(a) the establishment of a National RE&RI committee and

(b) the drafting of a National Code of Conduct for research.

Network of Responsible Conduct of Research in Greece (RCR-Greece)

History

RCR-Greece was founded in 2014 in Athens by Greek researchers, professors, scientists and professionals. The organization is ruled by a five-member Board of Directors.

Main Tasks

The aim of “RCR-Greece” is to foster “Research Integrity” and generally “Responsible Conduct of Research” in Greece. Specifically it aims to promote:

  • the implementation, adaptation and propagation of methods, techniques and applications of Research Integrity.
  • the education and training of scientists of all disciplines in Research Integrity.
  • the establishment of Research Integrity both in Greece and internationally.

Training

RCR-Greece is aiming to train researchers of all disciplines in Research Integrity in Greece.

RCR-Greece has started to educate the Master’s students of two Greek Universities in Research Integrity by offering relevant lectures.

Promoting Research Integrity

RCR-Greece organized and hosted the Meeting of the “European Network of Research Integrity Offices” (ENRIO) for the first time in Greece. The “ENRIO Meeting Athens” was held on the 26th and 27th of November 2015 in Athens.

RCR-Greece offered on the 20th of April 2015 a lecture to the master’s students of the MSc in “Management in Construction” and the MSc in “Structural Design and Construction Management” at the “Piraeus University of Applied Sciences”. The theme of the lecture was “Introduction to the Responsible Conduct of Research”.

RCR-Greece offered on the 4th of June 2016 a lecture to the master’s students of the MSc in “Management Technologies of Water, Soft Energy Sources and Environmental Mechanics” at the University of ASPETE (School of Pedagogical and Technological Education”. The themes of the lecture were “Research Misconduct” and “Mentoring”.
