National Research Integrity Framework

In 2005, a national institutional structure in Croatia was set up by the Croatian Parliament, the Croatian Committee on Ethics in Science and Higher Education (CESHE) (hereafter also Committee) with investigatory and (non-binding) decision-making authority in research misconduct cases. In 2017, CESHE’s jurisdiction was limited by the Constitutional Court which is also interpreted as if the Committee is not allowed to rule on individual cases of research misconduct at all. Awaiting a final decision, the Committee presently is not in function. However, other organisations that operate nationwide, may still deal with research misconduct cases or promote research integrity within their scope, e.g. the Croatian Science Fund (CSF)(www.hrzz.hr).
