ENRIO 2020 Congress on Research Integrity Practice

The ENRIO 2020 Congress on Research Integrity Practice opens a new European congress series that brings experts together to critically explore and develop research integrity practices. The aim is to work towards increasingly responsible European research culture. ENRIO 2020 is organised by the European Network of Research Integrity Offices (ENRIO), the Finnish National Board on Research Integrity TENK and Aalto University, Finland.
The topics of ENRIO 2020 include but are not limited to:
- European data protection laws and their implications for research and research integrity practices
- Current issues of open science and research integrity
- Whistle-blowing and the whistle-blower protection directive in the EU
- Prevention, investigation and handling of research misconduct
- Research integrity training and knowledge building
- Plagiarism and effective prevention measures
- Research assessment, research funding and their implications for research integrity
- Ethics and ethical standards of Artificial Intelligence
- Responsible research communication, scientific publishing and authorship issues
- Discipline-specific questions, e.g. innovation and corporate collaboration and ethical review in the humanities and arts
- Horizon Europe and EU funding for research integrity and research ethics: the Science with and for Society programmes

The call for papers is now open. We invite abstracts for
- Research-oriented presentations on research integrity
- Presentations of European research and development projects and
- Workshops pertaining to the topic of research integrity practice.
1. Part of the programme is reserved for research-oriented presentations. We invite abstracts that focus on the following topics:
- European data protection laws, research and research integrity practices
- Open science and research integrity
- Types of plagiarism and effective preventive measures
- Research integrity in interdisciplinary projects
- Intersections between research ethics and research integrity
- Conflicts of interest in research
- Authorship issues in scientific publishing
We are particularly interested in problem-solving presentations that propose practical solutions to clear challenges. PhD students and early-career researchers are especially welcome to submit abstracts of their work. And despite the European perspective of this congress, the call for papers is by no means restricted to researchers working in Europe.
2. The call for papers is also open for introductions of European RI research and development projects and their outcomes.
The projects can be in their initial stages, in progress or already completed. The abstracts for project presentations should include
- a description of the project
- relevance to research integrity practice
- the expected or achieved outcomes of the project.
3. CALL FOR PAPERS NOW CLOSED – We welcome workshop proposals pertaining to the theme of research integrity practice. The workshop topics may draw from the general themes of the congress (see Programme), but we are happy to consider all proposals that relate to research integrity practice.
The workshops should engage the participants in a genuinely interactive way and increase the participants’ knowledge and understanding of the topic at hand.
The abstracts for workshop proposals should include
- the motivation behind the workshop
- its relevance to research integrity practice
- intended learning objectives
- a brief description of proposed interactivity
- the organiser of the workshop and their background (professional/academic affiliation).
Workshop length is 90 minutes (unless otherwise agreed). The arrangements of the approved workshops will be discussed with the workshop conveners.

The call for papers has closed for the workshop proposals on 1 February 2020.
The call for papers closes on 17 February 2020 for the research and project presentations.
